Employer/period/responsibilities

January 2016 – Present:

Adjunct Professor at the university of Stavanger (UiS) and Adjunct Professor II at the university center of Svalbard (UNIS).

  • Research regarding shale gas (UNIS)
  • Facies variations of the U. Jurassic, Hekkingen Fm (UiS, UNIS, Moscow State University). Pre-Jurassic derived oils in the North Sea (UiS)
  • Petroleum system of the Caribbean (UiS in cooperation with the university of Houston).Lecturing GEO 690 “Petroleum System Evaluation” (UiS) • Supervising MSC and PhD students.

Consulting (OPGIS):

Performing various petroleum system analyses for the industry

Phillips Petroleum (now ConocoPhillips - CoP)/Geoscientist 1997-2014

Petroleum system analyst.

2014 (February) – September 2015: Petroleum System Analyst with the Norwegian and UK continental shelfs as “playgrounds”

October 2011 – February 2014: Worked in the CoP geochemistry - basin modeling specialist team in Houston. During this period I mainly worked the Browse Basin (Western Austalia), the Caspian Sea, various fields on the UK Shelf, and with unconventional exploration in US.

2006 – September 2011: Petroleum System Analyst for ConocoPhillips 80% and Associate Professor II at the Dept. of Geosciences, University of Oslo 20% (with emphasis on the Embla Field.

2003-2006: Ph.D study at Dept. of Geosciences, University of Oslo. The study demonstrated that much information, which may change/refine existing exploration models are “hidden” in existing geochemical databases.

March 1999 – summer 2003: Team leader for a Support Group consisting of 15 specialists covering various aspects of exploration.

August 1997 - March 1999: Leading a petroleum evaluation study in an AMI (area of mutual interest) with Statoil (now Equinor) and Enterprise Oil (now part of Shell). This resulted in a completely new charge model for the Siri Palaeocene sandy fairway (Denmark)

Elf (now Total)/Explorationist 1992-1997

Petroleum evaluation, research projects and studies on reservoir geochemistry, consequences of uplift, seal capacities and surface geochemistry.

NPD/Geologist 1985-1992

Seismic interpretation, mapping, prospect evaluation, concession round work, geochemistry, basin modelling, administration and research projects.

University of Bergen/scholarship 1983-1985

Research in connection with establishing a stratigraphy based on fatty acids.
